Thesis Defense Announcement

1. Important Dates

• Application Period
  Fall Semester: Before July 20
  Spring Semester: Before January 20
  Thesis Defense Application System
• Defense Period
  Fall Semester: Before July 30
  Spring Semester: Before January 30
• Grade Submission Deadline
  Fall Semester: Before July 31
  Spring Semester: Before January 31
• Final Graduation Date
  Based on semester end (June / January).
  Students who fail to complete clearance before the next semester registration (September / February) must register for the following semester.

Important Reminder:
Hard copies must be submitted to the Department Office 2–3 weeks before the defense. Late submissions will not be accepted.
For July graduation, submission by June 30 is strongly recommended.

For Ph.D. Students

• Submit pre-graduation review documents at least 2 months prior to the defense
• Application is valid only after departmental approval
• Defense must be held at least 3 months after passing the dissertation proposal exam

Committee Member Qualification Notes

• The member is an industry expert (non-faculty)
• A Ph.D. committee member holds a rank below Associate Professor

Review by the Departmental Committee is required in the above cases.

Required Documents

• Printed online application form: Apply online
• Turnitin similarity report (signed by advisor): Download sample report
• Degree Defense Consent Form: Download form
• Academic Ethics Training Certificate (6 hours): Apply here
• One 2-inch graduation photo
• Proof of leaving survey completion: Open survey system

Note: The first three required documents must be signed by the advisor with a handwritten signature (stamps or seals are not accepted).

3. New Regulations for AY 2026 (114-2)

Delayed Thesis Publication (Important)

• Must be applied via system before the defense
• Supporting documents must be signed by all committee members on the defense day
• Applicable for confidentiality, patent applications (case number required), or legal restrictions

Inviting International Scholars

• Honorarium: NT$6,000
• Virtual participation: bank transfer fee subsidy (up to NT$1,600)
• CV and institutional profile required
• Reimbursement must be completed before December 31, 2026

4. Funding and Reimbursement

Review Fees

• Master’s: NT$1,000 per member
• Ph.D.: NT$1,600 per member

Payment Method

Register via the Payee Information Platform or provide a bank passbook copy.

Travel Expenses

Based on Tainan City; tickets are required for non-same-day travel.

5. Additional Notes

• Room Reservation: Please arrange in advance
• Virtual Defense: Allowed for international members or emergency closures
• The Registration Division can only process clearance and issue diplomas after final grades are released
